After tuesday's Ski I took wednesday off. My leggs were feeling sore. Especially the out sides of my ankles probably from trying to get an edge on the firm icy trails.
Thursday I was on the trainer for an hour but it hurt.
Tonight another hour on the trainer but it felt much better, two twenty minutes efforts averaging 330 watts. I kind of suprised myself being able to go that hard on that damn machine indoors with two kids distracting me. Grace did manage to do 125 one sided revolutions on Tami's eliptical machine. I am not sure on her counting but I didn't care because I was laghing so hard. It looked really hard.
The power meter has really changed the way I ride indoors and makes it alot more tolerable. I am a numbers guy and really look forward to going through each ride when I am done. So if i get too into blogging about my wattage numbers in the future and you don't like it here is a site for you. Watts Suck I have also drastically changed how I spend my time on the bike. We'll see if it works.
A two hour ski is on tap for tomorrow and then the NHL All stars Skills competition. Go Gabby!
Jimmer has done something bold on his blog that I may try. He is posting his body weight and his goal. To make mine look good I am probably going to go back and start from the begining of January when I was at my peak.

Remind me to wash my hat
I got out after work and skied at Quarry park for two hours after work tonight. My goal was to try to get in 6 laps (21k) in 2 hours.
Lap 1 - I found it a little hard to get used to the snow and my finger were a little cold - after all it was only 4 degrees.
Lap 2 - Fingers felt better but other parts really got cold (twig and berries) not good! I took a break and went to my truck and grabbed an extra hat I had along and shoved it down my underwear and headed off.
Lap 3 - I am sure I looked like a fool but I was warm!
Lap 4 - Strange lap, it seemed like I stumbled around the whole way. Also I think I stepped on every twig (no berries) and leaf on the trail. I even hooked a tree with my ski tip and fell in a narrow section.
Lap 5 - I just about quit after #4 but I didn't want to end the night like that so I forced my self to do one more and it went smooth.
Lap 6 - I was on a roll but also getting cold so I hit my remote start on the Avalanche and let it warm up while I finished the last one.
21k in 1 hour 56 min, it is along way from the Birkie's 51k but I feel great after a hot shower and some home made tortalini soup.

My trainer is mean
I cranked out another 1:45 tonight and noticed something. After about 10 minutes into my ride it jumped up about 40 watts with no change in gears or cadence. Strange it just got a little harder all of a sudden! I think it is getting sick of me already and trying to frustrate me into quitting. Well I showed it, 1:45 with 1 hour at 300 watts, how do you like them apples!

I only managed 1:45 on the trainer yesterday but I did get up this morning and get the last 1:15 in before church. That counts in my book.
I didn't take the kids to ski league today as the temp at 2:30 pm is still only 0.
I have listed the System 6 on ebay again as I am getting the new bike itch. Check it out here System 6
I am also selling a Jamis Xeneth for a freind Xenith
I am still waiting for my new Scalpel frame after I cracked the old one. It apears to be a fluke and Cannondale is replacing it with the new 2008 model, wich I saw at the Shop yesterday. Very nice and light! So I can wait another month.
Well I am just going to watch the Pat's and Packers and Play hockey later then off for another work week.

Packers
It looks like my hopes may come true. The forcast for Green Bay tomorrow is -20 wind chill and flurries! Awsome!
Cold!
I skied for two hours on Tuesday night at Quarry park. With the lights I had no problems skiing in the dark.
Well it looks like no skiing today or tomorrow either. Hello trainer! I did an hour on Monday and 1.5 on Thursday but it is hard to get back into riding indoors. I am going to try to get 3 hours today. Wish me luck.

What day is it today?
It seems like just yesterday we got back from Florida. It took me all week (65 hours) to get caught up at work. Note to Jeffro: year end is a bad time to take two weeks off!
I got out for a 2 hour ski yesterday after a quick trip to express care to stitch up my thumb from a frozen burger pattie seperating incedent. I have three more stiches to my left hand. That hand has taken a beating. A dog bite last year. Five stiches in 2000 from a mountain bike crash in Sedona. Game-Keepers thumb (a torn ligament) from again Mountain biking last year.
I took the kids to ski league today and they takled some of the hills at riverside. I reminded me of myself only a few weeks ago when I went there and attempted to go down the hills my first time on skis. The kids are learning much faster than I did and already seem ready for more.
I have a late Hockey game tonight wich sucks because I can't get settled down for an hour or two after a hard skate and end up awake until way to later to be getting up at 6:00. Oh well maybe I can catch a nap at work tomorrow, yeah right!
I watched part of the Packers game yeaterday and boy was that cool seeing them play in a snowstorm. I hope the Giants win and go to cheese-ville and it is -25 degrees for the NFC championship. Out-door playoff football in Green Bay rules!

Endless vacation... Not!
Well it has come to an end. Time to head home to Minnesota. We went out to the beach for one last sunset last night. The picture doesn't do justice but they are spectacular here on Florida's gulf coast.
Oh well we will be back in March.
