Memorial weekend

Friday the whole family went and got haircuts and then we went to Noodles for dinner and rented and watched We Bought a Zoo, not a bad movie.

Saturday Tami and I did the Apple duathlon Relay. Tami's run times were within 19 seconds of her time last year. My bike time was 56 min even for the bike leg, a full 4 minutes fast than last year. Even with that the Nelson's beat us, so we now owe them dinner. After the race we had lunch did some house work and then went to Schad's for their annual after Apple party.

Sunday after pancakes and church I went out for a road ride. during the ride the temps kept climbing until my Garmin registered 93 degrees. I had a nice tail wind home but with little breeze it was warm and I ran out of water. I mowed our almost knee high yard before my dad came to help me finish my stairway project to the river wich we finished Monday.

We tried out the new Brothers bar & grill on division and 5th ave and were not too impressed. Definately a neat old building with great renovations but the food was a little spendy for bar type food and portions were small. They have a wide selection of beers on tap but not much at all for wines. Tami did try a glass of Pinot but had to send it back because there was already lipstick on the rim of the glass when she got it. It's probably a great place for happy hour or just to meet and have a beer but for food I'd go across the road to Noodles or Chipotle.

First ride of the Season

Madelyn and I put the pontoon in on Saturday morning and the family went out last night after the winds died down for a quick cruise. Madelyn took over the captains duties, Cora was on Duck patrol, Grace sancked on cheese and crackers and Tami and I sipped a nice bottle of Benziger Cab. Perfect!

PB SF

I got out yesterday for a good 3 1/2 hour ride in Paul Bunyan State forest. Alway a great ride as there are so many options with forest roads, 4-wheeler trails and motorcycle trails running everywhere. Even with all of the options I rode a loop I did last fall. This loop has mostly hard fast forest roads a short fast downhill paved section and a little loose tough gravel. Great weather and almost no traffic made it wonderfull, I wish this was closer to home.

On another "note" I purchased some new ear buds from Westone because I was sick of my old ones popping out, moving around or getting alot of wind noise. These things are awesome, great sound, they don't move and almost no wind noise. I highly recomend them to anyone who rides with music. The only downside I can see with them is they block out most surrounding noise so riding in traffic you won't be able to hear the motorist cursing at you, if that is a downside.

Docking station complete

Saturday afternoon with help from Brett and Peterson (his name is Jeff too so I am Bauerly and he is Peterson) we got the new dock out on the river. Now I just need a way to get to it, those rocks are really hard on the ankles, hmmmmm.
